Mama Mia! How to find that unique and unusual Mother’s Day Card.

‘Bracken and Bramble’ here, as named by my instagram followers is a very sweet and unique Mother’s Day card design which was inspired by a lone badger passing by and setting off our home security camera one night recently!
This illustration is particularly special because it was painted using some brushes gifted to me recently by a family very dear to me, who lost their beloved ‘Pink Nanny’. ‘Pink Nanny’ was a keen watercolour artist, and it’s an honour to be able to use her brushes to create new artworks whilst remembering her.

I had an unknowing ‘muse’ for this card design. A very special mum chum of mine has been working throughout the pandemic on the front line for the NHS, as has her husband (also a very dear friend of mine). I am in complete admiration and wonder of their dedication to their patients, their work and to the NHS, whilst also working in shifts to be able to homeschool their two young children, keeping themselves and their family safe by working and living in shifts apart from each other too.
We used to joke because they found my job in Film and TV so exciting, saying that I was “the most famous person they’d ever met” and I’d always laugh and say “It’s REALLY not that glamorous, and it’s definitely not like I save lives or anything”.
They actually do save lives, they actually have saved lives. They are real life superheroes.
